Support
An iPhone remote for Sony Bravia and Roku-powered televisions, working entirely over your home Wi-Fi.
Getting started
Make sure your iPhone and your TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, then open the app. It scans for televisions automatically and shows what it finds.
Sony Bravia
Your TV needs its network control switched on first. On the TV, go to Settings → Network & Internet, scroll below the list of networks to Home network setup → IP control, and set Authentication to "Normal and Pre-Shared Key".
You can then pair one of two ways:
- Pre-Shared Key — set a key on that same screen and type it into the app. It never expires.
- On-screen passcode — nothing to configure; the TV shows a four-digit code that you type into the app. This pairing expires after about two weeks, and the app will prompt you to pair again.
To power the TV on from fully off, also turn on Remote start under Network & Internet.
Roku TVs
No setup and no password needed. If your Roku doesn't respond, check Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by mobile apps and set Network access to "Default" or "Permissive".
Other brands
LG, Samsung, Vizio, Fire TV and Apple TV are not supported yet. The app will still find those televisions and tell you so directly rather than leaving you guessing.
Common problems
No TVs found. Confirm the phone and TV are on the same network, and that you allowed the Local Network permission prompt. You can also enter the TV's IP address manually from the setup screen.
The TV's address keeps changing. Reserve a fixed IP for the television in your router's DHCP settings.
"Pairing expired". On-screen passcode pairings lapse after roughly two weeks. Tap "Pair again" and enter a fresh code, or switch to a Pre-Shared Key, which does not expire.
Privacy
Couchpilot Remote collects nothing about you and has no servers. See the privacy policy.

Product names and trademarks referred to on this page are used only to describe which televisions the app can talk to, and remain the property of their respective owners.
